We Need Your Help!

We Need Your Help! The legislature has released their list of "Proposed Budget Cuts" for the 2026 Legislative Session. These proposals include DSPD wage cuts (10% cuts for caregiver compensation and respite staff), and the elimination of Medicaid ABA (behavioral supports) for adults with Autism. Making these cuts would have tremendous and immediate impact on growing and existing programs! We need to stop this from happening!

Please fill out this form so that you can stay up to date as things happen.

Please email your legislator ASAP and ask them NOT to cut these critical programs!

Here is a link where you can find who represents you at the Utah Legislature.

The specific committee that oversees this budget cut list is the

"Social Services Appropriations Committee".

The members of this committee are:

Sen. Keven Stratton (Senate Chair) - kstratton@le.utah.gov

Rep. Raymond Ward - (House Chair) - rayward@le.utah.gov

Rep. Doug Fiefia - Vice Chair - dfiefia@le.utah.gov

Sen. Stuart Adams - jsadams@le.utah.gov

Sen. Heidi Balderree - hbalderree@le.utah.gov

Sen. Luz Escamilla - lescamilla@le.utah.gov

Sen. Jen Plumb - jplumb@le.utah.gov

Sen. Todd Weiler - tweiler@le.utah.gov

Rep. Kristen Chevrier - kchevrier@le.utah.gov

Rep. Tyler Clancy - tclancy@le.utah.gov

Rep. Jennifer Dailey-Provost - jdprovost@le.utah.gov

Rep. Jake Fitisemanu - jfitisemanu@le.utah.gov
Rep. Stephanie Gricius - sgricius@le.utah.gov

Rep. Colin Jack - cjack@le.utah.gov

Rep. Nicholeen Peck - npeck@le.utah.gov

We would ask that you email these people individually (not on a group message) and ask for their help in removing these budget cut items from the list.

If any of these people happen to represent YOU (where you live), please let them know that you live in their district (this is very important for them to know that you are their constituent).

If your representatives are NOT on in this committee (not listed above), please email them as well and ask them to voice their support to their colleagues and commit to showing their concern for your needs as their constituent.

Some things to consider when sending them an email:

  • Use a subject line that indicates your concern (i.e. "Urgent concern about budget cuts", "Please support (child's name) and keep autism programs funded")

  • Share a little bit about your story why these programs are important to you and/or someone you love.

  • Keep it relatively short (they get a lot of emails, so getting right to the point is important)

  • Ask them specifically to remove the following budget cuts from Social Services Appropriations Committee List: #35 - Medicaid Adult Autism Coverage, #85 - DSPD Waiver Reimbursement Rates and to continue to fund these important programs for individuals with autism and their families!

  • Ask them if they would be willing to be a champion for this community and voice their support in the budget discussions and public committee hearings.

  • Ask for them to respond to your email to let you know their stance on these issues.

  • Thank them for their service for the State of Utah.
